Entries will close for this year’s Chippenham Half Marathon on 31st Aug 2015. The race takes place on Sunday 6th September 2015.
The event, which is organised with Chippenham Harriers Runners Club was recently voted 4th in the Runners World Top 10 Half Marathons of 2014 and was ranked 20th in the UK’s 50 Best Races.
Race Director Ian Wiggins said ‘We pride ourselves on being an event organised by runners for runners, and are therefore delighted to again feature in Runners World Top 10 Half Marathons and we are working hard to make sure that this year’s event is equally successful’.
The Chippenham Half Marathon is praised by Runners World readers for its attention to detail; with a well organised bag drop system, well-manned water stations, and a well-stocked goody bag with a high quality technical t-shirt. The event is especially well known for its cheery and encouraging marshals from Chippenham Harriers Running Club.
This event is ideal for first timers or experienced long distance runners, with a predominately flat route which goes through the centre of Chippenham and then follows scenic country lanes visiting local villages and hamlets including Tytherton Lucas, East Tytherton, Avon and Langley Burrell.
The event which has raised £44,000 for charity since 2008 will this year raise funds for the Dorothy House Hospice Care, as well as other local charities and good causes. This year’s race is being sponsored by local businesses John Williams Heating Services Ltd and Par Foods Limited.
Entries are £20 for affiliated runners and £22 for unaffiliated runners. Entry details and event information can be found at www.chippenhamhalfmarathon.co.uk
Notes:
The Chippenham Half Marathon was voted 4th in Runners World Top 10 Half Marathons of 2014 and raised £10,000 for its chosen charities last year. All race profits from the race are shared between the events official charity, which this year is Dorothy House Hospice Care, and a number of local charitable groups.
Since 2008 the Chippenham Half Marathon has donated £44,000 to its official charities, in addition to the many thousands of pounds which have also been raised by the runners themselves, helping a multitude of other charities and good causes.
We are very grateful to the support we receive from our sponsors which this year include John Williams Heating Services Ltd and Par Foods Ltd.
The event is organised in conjunction with Chippenham Harriers, a local and friendly running club with approximately 220 members which meets on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday evenings at the Chippenham Sports Club.
As well as being part of the popular Chippenham Half Marathon, each year the Chippenham Harriers organise a number of popular local running events including the Slaughterford 9, Lacock Relays, Chippenham Harriers 5 Mile Road Race and Family Fun Runs and the 5k River Run and Family Fun Run.
Our vibrant Youth Section meets Wednesday evenings at the Chippenham Sports Dome. The Youth section provides structured weekly sessions in a fun environment for children aged 8 to 16. Sessions are led by coaches who have been trained by UK Athletics.
