Chippenham Harriers River Run

The Chippenham Harriers River Run typically takes place in the evening during high summer. There are two routes to choose from, namely a full 5k route and a shorter 2k route (fun run). 

The 5k River Run and 2k Fun Run follow a largely traffic free multi-terrain route along the banks of the River Avon, starting and finishing in Monkton Park, near the Olympiad Leisure Centre. There is a mixture of compacted field/grass, gravel and paved road/path.

The River Run is a great community event which attracts people of all abilities and ages. The 5k distance means that it is ideal for the beginners and the inclusion of the Fun Run makes it the perfect summer evening event for families.  The 5k is open to anyone aged 13 and over and the Fun Run is for 4 – 14 year olds.

Prizes in age categories for both races. All Fun Run finishers receive a medal.

Please ensure plenty of time for registration, which is normally open 60 minutes prior to the first race (5:30pm). The 2k Fun Run usually starts at 6:30pm, followed by the full 5k River Run at 7.30pm.

Walk or cycle to the event, if possible, otherwise there are plenty of car parks in the town centre, which should be less busy at this time of the day. All Chippenham car parks charge, so ensure that you have paid if using one of these.
