For Beginners Lacing Up & Runners Pacing UpJoining our new Lace Up & Pace Up running group could not be easier and you will be in safe hands. It’s a great opportunity to get fit and make some new friends. Our leaders’ aims are to give you lots of support and encouragement to get you started or help you achieve that parkrun PB!
Since your first night will involve registration it would help greatly if you could print off and fill in the registration form for when you arrive on the night. Arriving from 6.15pm is encouraged.
How fit do I need to be?
Our sessions are aimed at total beginners – Lacing up and improvers – Pacing Up. You will join in the group most suited to your needs and our coaches and leaders will take you through the weeks with help, top tips and advice to get you to a 5k race or a 5k race PB.
Each week you will receive a newsletter full of encouragement and advice through email or this can be accessed via the Chippenham Harriers Facebook group.
What happens if I can’t make a session?
Firstly, don’t worry. We understand everyone might not be able to make every week. The newsletters let you know what we did and you can get out another time in the week to complete the session.
What should I wear?
Be comfortable and be seen e.g. high vis clothing, tracksuit or shorts and a T-shirt. We strongly recommend you invest in a pair of running shoes (we can advise further on this matter) otherwise wear comfy trainers. Ladies should invest in a good sports bra. Also it’s worth remembering to bring some warmer clothes for after you have finished. We have shower and changing facilities should you require them.
What else should I bring?
The full twelve week course costs £15 (the first week is a free introduction and registration week), you can still register/join us anytime up to week 4 beyond this you will need to e-mail us before attending. You can pay £15 from week two OR you can pay as you go at £2 per week. We would also recommend that you bring along a drink as it is very important to keep hydrated.
