Earth Runs – Big Tree Run

Details are here for Race #14 in the club 2026 Championships
Earth runs is an organisation that plants trees in return for being active (please take a look at their website.) https://www.earthruns.com/ I have arranged with them to create a virtual race which will enable members to plant trees by entering the race.
There will be 2 options available.
1) Pay £5 to enter and plant 5 trees
2) Pay £10 to enter and plant 10 trees
In addition you can purchase a medal for £3.75. These are very special medals that are made from recycled paper and have wildflower seeds embedded in them, so you can plant the medal and grow your own flowers to provide for bees and insects.
Once you have completed the run you will need to upload your result (ELAPSED time please) on the Earth runs race page so that we can keep track of the results and award Champs points at the end of October.
You are welcome to run this race as many times as you like but must physically enter through Earthruns at least once in order to register a result for the Championship. The results of any additional efforts which are quicker than the one logged on Earthruns will need to be submitted on the club members Event on the members Facebook page.
Because there are 2 options for this race, 5 or 10 trees it has been set up as 2 events and therefore to enter the race on Earthruns please follow one of the following links

For 10 trees

Any problems please let me know. (Mark Powell)
In terms of the race route I have mapped it out on the attached OS. It’s based on a route many of you will already know and is about 4.5miles long run in a clockwise direction starting and finishing at the bottom of the ramp of the bridge over the A350 (near Chippenham Rugby Club).
Please be aware that this event is on live roads so please take care. This is not an official race so you are all responsible for your own safety. We do not recommend running this route in the dark as there are no footways or street lights.
You are welcome to run this on your own,
OR we will organise several group runs either as the Thursday 7pm club runs when daylight allows time or as an 8am Sunday social between now and the end of October.
I hope you all enjoy this event and have a great run whilst planting trees to help the planet. If you do purchase a medal please do post photos of anything you have grown on the Harriers FB page.
