Chippenham Harriers Youth

The Chippenham Harriers Youth is a sub-section of the Chippenham Harriers, run by volunteers to promote healthy lifestyles for young athletes through enthusiasm for running. Our mission is to hold structured weekly training sessions in a fun environment with each young athlete working towards realistic goals.

Session information

Chippenham Harriers Youth meet on Wednesdays from 6:45pm until 8:00pm.

Our Youth section is for children aged 8 to 16 years old. Sessions take place at Chippenham Sports Dome on Bristol Road.

Sessions are led and supervised by coaches and coaching assistants who have been trained by and gained qualifications through England Athletics. Parent volunteers can also help out.

We aim to cater for a range of abilities, though as a guideline participants should be capable of 1 minute jogging/1 minute walking.

As well as training in the dome, we do run outside so it is really important for each child to bring a high-visibility tabard or vest with them.

If you would like to, you can purchase Chippenham Harriers Youth Club Kit.

Time Trial Results

Each term the Chippenham Harriers Youth organises a measured Time Trial for all athletes, allowing everyone an opportunity to challenge themselves and measure their progress. The results from the most recent time trial can be found here.

Getting involved

Chippenham Harriers Youth is fantastically popular and there is a constant waiting list. There are currently no spaces available for new athletes.

If you would like to add your name to the waiting list, please send the athletes name, date of birth and a contact number in an email to . We will contact you as soon as a space becomes available.

Chippenham Harriers youth membership costs £32 a year. Part of this money goes to England Athletics and Chippenham Sports Club. Other funds go towards the hire of the Sports Dome and coaching courses.

Chippenham Harriers Youth could not survive without it’s unpaid volunteers and you don’t have to be an athlete to take part. If you are a parent of an athlete and you’d like to get involved, more information can be found on the Youth Volunteers’ page.

We operate the same dates as Wiltshire school term times. The golden rule: If it is a school holiday there will be no Harriers Youth.

If you are going to be late picking your son or daughter up, please contact the club on 07914 043840.
