Chippenham Harriers Receives Civic Award

Kelly Wariner News

On Sunday 3rd September, the Chippenham Harriers received a Civic Award for the excellent contribution our club makes to the local community. This involved recognition from the Mayor, Town Council and other public bodies.

This award was given for the positive impact our club has had within Chippenham, including the Chippenham Half Marathon and our bi-annual Beginners Course. It was also recognised that we offer opportunities to all abilities, including those who have learning difficulties and visually impairment.

The club was nominated for the award by our Social Secretary, Amy Breward. Several members of the Committee attended the ceremony to accept the award and be part of the event.

But there would be no club without its members, and so we would like to say thank you to every single one of you. All club members are volunteers, and yet are dedicated to helping the club provide a good service to the community. We’re pleased to be able to represent such an incredible group of runners and members of Chippenham’s community.

What a wonderfully positive weekend for our club. Alongside receiving a Civic Award, a large group of members came together to complete a charity run of Legs 9 and 10 of the Cotswold Way (thank you Nicky Finch for organising this) and we had many runners take part in races such as the Swindon Half Marathon and Oldbury 10.

Next week we have our Half Marathon to look forward to. September is going to be a great month for Chippenham Harriers.
